Easy way to burn files onto CD-Rs from directly within Windows without having to
invoke a CD burning software.
You can use Windows XP’s in-built CD burning capability to directly burn files onto
CDs. Hare’s how you do it.
We’re assuming you have loaded Windows XP onto C drive. At
the outset, make sure that you have the ‘IMAPI CD-Burning COM’ service running on
your computer. Check this by viewing the status of its entry under Windows services
(Click ‘Start / Run’ ( Windows Button+ R ) and type ‘services.msc’)
If its status is indicated as started. proceed to the next step.
Create a shortcut to the folder
‘C:\documents and settings\ Application Data\ Microsoft\ CD Burning’.
In your case, (User name) should be the profile name you use to log into
Windows.
Having done this, simply drag and drop the files you need into this folder.
Now each time you need to burn files to the CD, right-click the ‘CD-Write’
icon in Windows Explorer and select ‘Write these files to CD’ to write the
files to a blank media. Obviously, make sure there is adequate room on the
CD to hold the files.
