Applying a password to the Administrator account
Windows XP Home version unfortunately does not feature an administrator account.
But you can access this account through the safe mode. But there is a problem in doing
this as the administrative account in XP Home by nature has no password. This means
that anyone who has the slightest idea of how to use a PC could simply start windows in
the safe mode and play around with your important data.
To avoid this you can password protect the administrator account in XP Home.
To do this, first restart the system and once it reboots, keep pressing the [F8] key just
after the memory and BIOS check screen comes up, but before the Windows splash screen
comes up. Now select the ‘Safe Mode’ option.
Once in the safe mode, navigate to ‘Start | Control Panel | User Accounts’ and select the
administrator account.
Now apply a password and restart.
Now your administrator account in Windows XP home is password protected.
