Stop programs menu from highlighting new programs

After  installing new programs you will notice that windows

highlights them within the programs menu.in a way,this is

useful when you want to locate that program right after you

install it. But for those who don’t need this extra bit of hand

holding, this feature can be disabled.

(You can customize the Start Menu to disable highlighting new programs) 



Hare is a simple way to disable the highlighting feature.


1. Right-click on an empty space on the  taskbar and then click on “Properties”

2. Click on the ‘Start  Menu’ radio button and then on the ‘Customize’ button.
Now click on the  ‘Advanced’ tab.

3. Uncheck the box against  ‘Highlight Newly Installed Programs’.

4. Click on OK twice.  Your programs will not be highlighted anymore in the Start Menu.
